• Video of me playing Satriani w/ Shannon Soloist

I have to thank jgcable for the recent Boss GT-6 processor tips he's given me. Shannon Soloist into Morley Bad Horsie 2 Contour Wah into the input of the GT-6, and the left mono out into the effects return of my Mesa DC-2 combo. Volume is VERY easy to control now and it's not so sensitive! And the tone is frickin' incredible and warm!

So, to present my third video attempt, I'm playing my remaining guitar which somehow allows me to play Satriani songs without me having to do anything. This song is called "Love Thing" and it's probably my favorite Satch song of all time. I recorded two video takes... see which one you like better and vote on it.

On #2 you seemed to play a lot smoother. Nice job, Priest.
My future band shall be known as "One Samich Short Of A Picnic"!

For some reason, #2 leads to a broken link already. Here's another link to #2:

Thanks so far everyone. I need to learn more Satch songs but all the other ones I like sound so frickin' hard.

When I thought the Earth revolved around Satch, I liked to play "Always with Me, Always with You" and "Echo". Those have some really nice slow parts that you can work the emotion on. Give those a shot.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

I've tried doing Always and Echo by ear... there gets to a point where he's rippin' it up and I can't tell what he's doing. I do have backing tracks for those songs! Gotta make time to learn those songs slowed down on my computer.

Well, I had a book of tabs that kinda helped. I'm too lazy to figure shit out!!

Echo is fun, until he starts all those funky legato runs. I couldn't do that stuff when I first learned it in the late '80s, early '90s. May be able to now...but don't really have the desire!!

I watched some kid playing Always over a backing track on an SG the other afternoon. It was one of those after school programs for kids. Did a decent sort of a job, not pro standard by any stretch, but he was just some kid they had come in to share his interest in music with the viewers. WAAY better than I was at that age. It was nice to see, rather than some kid flogging out a bad one-finger power chord Papa Roach song or something. I betcha the rest of the kids in his grade 6 class think he's a Rock God now, playing Satriani licks on tv.

http://www.guitarbt.com/ has one but I don't know if it's any good. You've to register first but it's worth it. Loads of backing tracks for a lot of different bands on the site
