• some pod 2.0 clips

hi all

yesterday i bought a pod 2.0 ....see my other thread in the amps section.
today i started some tweaking, and well...here are the first results. unfortunately, i got some clipping in the revelation track....maybe too many guitars at the same time, i don't know

Dream Theater - Overture 1928 POD 2.0

Ozzy - Revelation Solo POD 2.0

if anybody it interested which amp models i used etc, just ask
the guitar i used was my blue charvel model 3 with a steves special bridge pickup.....veeeeeery nice guitar

all in all, i found that the pod 2 isn't even half as deep as the xt is. it's actually rather plug and play. but atm i'm not really sure if i really like it....the clean sounds are excellent, and the fx aren't too shabby either, but the distorted rhythm sounds tend to be waaay to bassy and sound...well, like if there was a blanket over the speakers. muffled. the plexi is unusable because it's way too bassy no matter what you do, the rectifier is pretty much fuzzy crap (of course it is ), the mark series can sound decent but don't have enough gain even with the boost engaged, the slo sounds like crap to me?!, and the jcm800 is also just too bassy and muffled.
however, the modern highgain as well as the mark II sound quite good. the insane is also alright for leads.
by the way, all of the amps mentioned above except for the slo and the rectifier can be tweaked to sound rather nice for lead sounds.

any advice? i was thinking maybe an EQ between the pod and the soundcard? i've been told the 2.3 update improves some of those issues, especially when it comes to the cabs. is that true?

greets

uhuh.....folks i'm starting to dig this little thing
i'll take back what i said above, the JCM800 IS usable. listen to this clip i just made

Megadeth - Devils Island Intro

this is all POD2 jcm 800, run through some weird cab combinations....the jcm through any 412 sounds like CRAP, but through either a bassman 410 or a...um, i think blackface 212 it sounds very nice

damn, this is almost spot on....

mmh...tomorrow i'm gonna try this: i'll record a clip using my REAL jcm800 2210's DI out and one using the pod set to jcm800....and then you guys can guess whats the real deal

Those clips sound great...

I have had a Pod 2.0 forever... (just put the 2.3 chip in...It is free, just call Line 6 and tell them you need the upgrade)

Anyway, I think I must be the only person in the entire world that doesn't gush over it...I mean I can't find a metal sound that works for me to save my life...

However, I would be really interested in the settings you used for DT "Overture 1928" if you don't mind sharing. THAT sounded cool!

thanks,

Dan

Re: some pod 2.0 clips

well, that was actually 3 sounds mixed together
i think i used two tracks of modern higain panned 80% left and right (i'll write down the settings later), mixed together with one track of a more compressed mk II c+ sound 100% left and a more open mk II on 100% right

i'm a doubling freak....i'll record everything a hundred times ^^ even the revelation solo was recorded using the insane with reverb on the left and the jcm 800 with reverb and a very short single repeat delay on the right iirc

The tone sounds great. Do you like the POD? I have the same one and it's great for recording. BTW, the Guitarded avitar is wicked funny!

I love my 2.0. I've tried the XT and just couldn't get a dirty sound I liked out of it. Like you said, the 2.0 is much more "plug and play."

I'm a bit surprised that you don't like the Soldano model (Modern Hi-Gain). That's the main thing I bought it for.

By the way.... as far as your EQ goes, don't forget the Presence control. This is accessed by holding the Tap key while turning _______ ....you'll have the check the manual, it might be Reverb. Either way, there are a ton of options available through the alternate Tap settings.

Nice Job! I prefer the XT because it seems to have a higher fidelity, but the 2.x Pods are really hard to beat for a quick dial in of tones. Good work. You may also want to install the software for the Pods on your PC and hook it up via midi - then you can back up all your patches, download ones from other people, etc... it's very useful.
