    BILL Z BUB's.. BED OF NAILS demo

    OK , so I'm a self promoting whore.. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

    I posted this shit in the amp section and never thought of posting it where it should go.

    This is a demo that was made for a local metal DJ on a old Tascam porta studio 4trk , and some cheap , barrowed "vocal" mikes over a weekend ..The main scratch track is with my Uberschall (gain MAXED) is "LIVE" with the drums. Due to time , the scrath track had to be the keeper. My drummer can't play to a click to save his life..so I booted him..so expect the meter NOT to be perfect whatsoever...The only solos I could steal were on Ty's vocal track when he wasn't singing is my JMP-1..So these are just the rough song "Ideas"..this is a true "basement demo tape" in raw form.     I want to hit the studio with my bro John eventually and lay this stuff down right...I think the songs ideas are pretty cool..I have much more songs in the oven.

    I know some of you heard these..but some may not..

    so here does...please leave comments of your favorite tunes..I want to know what YOU like. That means alot to me.

      It's quite cool, heavy stuff! He's a really good vocalist, and the riffs are cool! Listened to Death Perception and Scapegoat, Death Perception being my favourite! [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] That song kicks ass!! I'd really like to hear this better quality!

      Nice to hear some blastbeats too!

        I'm listening through these all again, bro! You know what I think, I'm not sure what kind of feedback I could give you. I am most unqualified to offer that kind of advice. But I like where you're going with all of this and I definitely think you should cut a demo, a nice one. If you never do anything again at least you will have that one cool demo. You and John and Ty have excellent mojo and your music deserves to be polished up and offered to the masses.

          Thanks Brother Anders...Death Perception was written with death vocals in mind. It is a total swedish thrash death flavor..but Ty insisted "singing"..so it is a swedish thrash type song with "clean" vocals..that's a twist!

          The parts where he is doing that sing a long " Ohhhhhhh ohhhhhhhh" part..is where the solos I worked out will go..like Arch Enemy..but with clean vox..

          Yes I like the blast beats for "dynamics"..they can be tedious or boring when an entire album is all blasts and nothing else..IMO.

          I like dynamics..and would love to get to a studio..need to find a "good" drummer capable of that kind of stuff..hard to find around these parts.

            Thanks Emmy...yes I was just discussing this with John..he doesn't really have to put in that much effort just his talent..I write the songs and will give him the material to work with..

            Get it buttoned up together a couple times and hit a studio...that's all I want to do..Death perception is a PERFECT song where me and John can isolate each other's solos..as is Father Felon..like we used to do it..before I put that tapping bass break in just before the solo..I would just pull that back out..I needed to put something there without him..so that's just came natural to do..it was nakid.. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

            if anything we could get opening 30 minute slots for Nevermore and or whoever comes thru town..that would be cool..but even if that don't happen at least I have SOMETHING to show for the time I put into this shit.. [img]/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]

              Hmmm.... my favorite... it's a tie between Scapegoat and High Speed Deathroll.

              Scapegoat- I LOVE the groove, metal with a groove. Very killer. I enjoy how the song moves and flows. With high speed metal chasing music oftentimes it is only in-your face-driving-rhythm or some speedy-burrito-shred-hash. That is cool and all, but it is nice to hear something refreshing like Scapegoat. The song actually moves along like a snake and has interesting dynamics. I like that. Ty's vocals are outstanding. The guitar dive bombs rule.

              High Speed Deathroll- Driving metal, very fast and in your face. I think that if a metal song is going to be like that then it needs to STAY like that throughout the song so that the listener is absolutely exhausted after listening to it. You do that with this one. [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]
              I love how it ends. You just throw it on the ground like "THERE! Fuck with THAT!" [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
              My favorite part is about a minute in when you switch gears, it has an "Anthraxy" vibe to it which is appealing to me. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
              The only suggestion I would dare make would be percussive. About 2:25 when Ty starts shouting out (what sounds like) "Crackhead!" "Twisting!" "Snapping!" I would have more rolling toms in there so it sounds like thunder. That would be cool. You could even introduce the rolling thunder at the beginning of the bridge (about two minutes in) and then really emphasize them when Ty starts shouting so that the point is really driven through the listener's skull like a spear. Make sense? [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

                High Speed Death Roll is about Leviathan coming up from the depths and running amok on mankind..Like Katrina but with balls and devours the whole Earth. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

                Oivey..don't even mention the drummer..ahhhhhh I laid everything down to a click track in PERFECT meter ..that took me 4 hours for the 4 songs..he couldn't even attempt it..not even close..what a tool. [img]/images/graemlins/eyes.gif[/img]

                I just wrote two more songs that I think are better than any of these..one is called "Destruction Ritual" and it is very fast and heavy..it's my favorite! [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

                The other is called "Live Long and Suffer"...I got that title from Jon V (SARJ) who's dad used to say that..I had a VERY doomy sabbath/candlemassy riff for that..it's the riff that I did on John's amp with my wolfgang..that's the main riff..very doomy..I love My dying Bride ...and that influenced that song ...I'll post that riff here..why not??

                  mmhh.....tough one. i think they are all quite good, scapegoat being my fave, although that highspeed deathroll riff (about 1minute in) kicks my ass, too. but scapegoat is REALLY cool. i absolutely LOVE groovy metal, and that song definitely grooves, esp. the riff after the intro solo.
                  having that said, father felon is probably the weakest one imho. not bad, just not really my style.

                  by the way, the chorus riff of scapegoat sounds quite nevermore-ish. i wonder if you made that one up with nevermore in mind? [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

                    I wrote scapegoat only with Ty in mind..his last band was very spazzy and didn't "groove" enough for him to go off on and do his thing..so I wanted a laid back song musically so he can showcase his talents..when I fisrt showed John the main riff to scapegoat he thought I was joking [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]..it's three notes really..I wasn't joking..it came out to be a nice song..I think.

                    Oh yeah in HSDR..I like that slammin' "groove" a minute into the song..that's where the MOSH starts!! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

                          Dude, I'm digging your stuff. I like your singer better when he's singing, but that's just me.

                          The riffs are cool and catchy and I really like the way a few of them bounce and groove. I think Scapegoat & Father Felon are my faves, but I honestly dig them all.

                            Hey I wrote Death Perception as a "death vocal" song but he sand it clean...so ther ya go...

                            maybe he could do it to High speed death roll..he just goes what feels natural to the song...I let him do his thing..he's a great singer..I'd like to hear him all layered in a real studio..

                            as a matter of fact it's his birthday yesterday..I gotta call him and wish him a belated..I called him but he went to go see that Possession of Emmy movie.. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

                            Funny how some people's tatse vary..this is what I want to know..I think its very interesting...we recorded that all in the same day..and all the tunes vary from each other ..I like that..

                            I hate buying a metal album and the whole album sounds like one long song..that gets boring to me.

                            Example , I love Lamb Of God..but that singer has ONE voice..it get's tedious after a while IMO. [img]/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]

                              I like your style, very early euro thrash. I'm not very versed in this style (even though I dig it), but I'm inclined to say you were probably influenced by the Merciful Fate/King Diamond vein of metal. Am I close.
