If you are not bored with Jackson sweepfests (vid)
Re: If you are not bored with Jackson sweepfests (
great playing in the outworld clips-he has got a lot better with his phrases than the clips i have seen over the years. From the jemfest days he was just a tech player but now he has dynamic playing and cool phrases.Good player
I think he and other players leant to run before they could walk on the guitar.I see it all the time with people wanting to just alternate pick scales as fast they can as soon as they start playing guitar from dayt one!lol
Rusty is cool as fuck with outworld, surprised me a lot as i wasnt expected him to sound so mature
JC-lol at the beer lessons-having fun with the band(killer sound!bought a Peavey xr800f+ powered mixing console with matching subs and sat speakers(1000 watts PA)and i just line in from my Digitech-OMG amazing clear sound-have to record the band some time and send you a clip)
Re: If you are not bored with Jackson sweepfests (
Fuck me. that guy is amazing. i've been playing 17 years and i could never fathom being able to do that shit, i could just never develop that speed. totally killer. thanks for sharing
Re: If you are not bored with Jackson sweepfests (
he has a great and very impressive technique and a killer pick hand but it says nothing to me musically. Please don't tell me the Rusty Drooley songs are any different because he says nothing them in as well. To have a technique like that and just do it continously is a waste imho...speed is only cool if used sparingly imho
Well thats is outstanding technique... but speed isnt everything.. you have to like it or not... this is way to much for my ears... there are some guys out there that can say way more with a single note than RC does in the whole vid. Not my stuff... but thanx for sharin'!
VERY impressive from a technical point of view for all of us who play.. or try a decade to achieve maybe 10% of his abilities,
but that's about the audience you can get interested with this vid/playing.., all other people won't be I'm afraid.
A non-player simply can't relate to the endless hours of practice and dedication required to get to that level.
The speed comes from the practice. Any care to disagree? The only limit is how fast your neurons fire in your brain, or in my case, whats left of it.
He is fast, some of it was sloppy. I couldn't come close.
if I just didn't have a job, wife, kids, dog, etc....
I could play 14 hours a day for a year and sell video lessons too.
That was inspiring, I'm going home to practice.
"tie two birds together and though they have four wings, they cannot fly"
How could you say he played like TMac in the Polar clip? I didn't hear any soloing. You can bet that when his solo did come up, he totally over played. Guys like Rusty can't slow down and play something memorable if their life depended on it. Too bad too, because he obviously has some technique going on there.
It's cool that the guitar is coming back into the forefront, but it seems like the new players that are doing it are missing the point. Hell, even Yngwie is totally overdoing it these days (saw him in concert a month or so ago). He overplayed so much that I could only take about half of it. I love Yngwie's early stuff so I was pretty dissappointed.
Very impressive technique and I love watching clips like that and being in awe and getting inspired to practice more....
BUT
Speed is one of the many tools in a player's arsenal. Fact is, a lot of guitarplayers seem to forget that. Speed is just as good, cool and soulful as anything else IF used in moderation and in the right setting, on the right time.
