  • GFS (Guitarfetish) pickups

Anyone tried them? I switched out my horrible SD Sh4 JB bridge pup on my DK2 with one of them and the difference is noticeably good. When I got a POD 2.0, I could not create even one decent patch that sounded close to good. I was like "no wonder people hate solid-states". And then I plugged in my SLSMG with active emg's and I was creating patch after patch that sounded so good. I am very pleased with the POD now.

Here is a clip with the SH4 JB (a lot of presence which is not easy to control). With the tone knob rolled back, the sound level decreases not the presence.

Here is one with the GFS. Still a little bright but better control of presence. Roling back the tone knob actually makes the pup warmer. For a $30 pickup (including shipping) cant ask for more.

I was so pleased with it, I recorded myself playing. Please dont flame me if it sucks . This is my first mp3 submission. (and probably my last? :ROTF

The GFS little killer single coils are very nice pickups.I've not tried their hums yet.

I bought a set of the "Hex Overwound Metal Pickups" that are on the GFS clearance page. They aren't actually GFS-branded like most of the pickups on the site, but they still kick all kinds of ass. The tech who installed them for me says he has been noticing more and more guitars coming in with GFS pickups.

Quite a few import guitars have them.

POD is not solid-state.Solid-states are analog amps. POD's a digital unit

Digital logic is almost always designed with solid state electronics. Solid state just means that there are no vacuum tubes or mechanically moving parts. Seeing as most digital logic is done using silicon ICs these days, they qualify as solid state.

FWIW digital electronics used to be designed with vacuum tubes. That is why computers used to fill up whole buildings

I swear those Overwound Metal Pickups or whatever they call them on the clearance page are Ibanez V series pickups.

+1. Links don't work. I have a couple of guitars with the JB and have always really liked it. I have a couple of the GFS pickups that I ordered and never put in anything, so I would like to hear the clips.

Which GFS pickups did you get BTW?

The "Hex" pickups? They sure look that way, although they also resemble the Duncan Full Shred and a few DiMarzios. But based on the description, they are most likely Ibanez surplus.

There are clips of me using those Hex pickups here: http://www.jcfonline.com/forums/show...942#post961942
