Ok... I ran across some old band tapes. So the past couple days I've been attempting to convert these old (and often mucho cheapo) analog tapes into digital format. Needless to say, were going back in time here. Some of the tapes were wiped clean and had gaps.

To preface: The files are clean. Some may be a little long..up to 10 minutes.
You may have to adjust your eq.
Much of the lead work is improv.

First clips are from a band I was in called Maniac. Four piece; Vocals, Bass, Drums, two guitars. The other guitarist is Jim Adams. I've worked with Jim since I was 16..he was a good influence on me musically as he was 5-6 years older. We do alot of tradeoffs on solos.
He also plays Keys and does lead vocals on a few tunes.

This first clip is one of our last gigs. Its a little punchy in spots.
    The year is 1982, I was 19.

The first song is an old tune by Krokus followed by Crazy Train.
We start with both of us using feedback.. I'm the one holding it out trying to wring dfferent harmonic variations before doing the pick slide.

Jim takes all the chorus fills and the first solo.
I take the verse fills and the outro solo.
Crazy Train...Jim does the solo break. We used to switch off but it was his call if he wanted to give it over. He's somewhat under mixed on the tape for the fills.

Next clip is a triple header. The clip is 12 minutes.
First tune is a Saxon tune.
I start with the chorus laden guitar. I'm doing the little verse fills.
    Jim does the solo.

Next is Teaser, Jim starts. I do the fills. I take the first short solo.
Jim takes the echo solo into a harmony solo. I take an outro solo.

Next is that ole classic bar band tune. Livin after 12:00.
Jim takes the main solo.. I do an outro.

Next is an April Wine tune followed by a Max Webster song-which was fun to do.

Jim starts both of these. I take the first solo in Big City, Jim does the second. Check.. I do the fills and the first solo, Jim does the outro.

    More A-Wine tunes:
Wanna Rock-Jim does some rippin Chuck Berry work on this. He does the fills and first solo. I do the outro.

    The last are keyboard tunes.

Now its a couple years later.. spring 1984. I was running sound for these guys and their guitarist put in his notice. They invited me to join...which I was somewhat mixed about as I wasn't Blonde.
This is a long version of Twilight Zone recorded about 2-3 weeks after joining so its a little rough and the quality is 'ok' Much of the guitar is undermixed, especially on the outro solo but you can still make it out.
Most of the solo is 80% improv.

Couple years later..1986. I'm playing in band called ID Crisis.
This is cars tune. The delay before the intro is me tuning. Back then, I had my tuner out of the loop. So I had to turn amp master vol down, unplug, tune the guitar. Grab the cable, nod to the drummer, plug in and turn up the volume.
When he starts the click I'm just inserting the cable...so I miss a bit.

Last is a short clip from a studio project I did as a favor for a friends college course in '95.
He is big into the euro techno pop-synth scene. OMD, Depeche Mode, etc..
You metalers may not like this.

I had to work the previous night till after midnight. I was late getting up and loaded plus I had to drive 90 miles in a cold blustery winter day.

I got at the studio very late.. like, booking time is over dude.
We got 15 minutes (if were lucky the other slot isn't on time.)
We hurry and get set up.. I do a pass.. and he decides to get another.
The result becomes a call and answer type solo.

I used a stock 750XL and a little GK250ML mk2. I run my volume down for a cleaner effect in the beginning, about a minute in its full bore. All effects were added at mix.
