Yeah they were great. My brother sent me Blue Blood when he was stationed in Japan in 1990. Never could find any of their CDs online that were not overpriced ($20+ for a used CD), but I did find their entire catalog on eMule.

Blue Blood is still my favorite.

Unfotunately one of the guitarists, Hide (HE-day), left the band to do a J-Pop thing, then went crazy and killed himself.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Yeah, I fuckin' love X-Japan. I play Kurenai and Blue Blood constantly on the guitar. And every once in a while I'll try to sit down and learn all of Art of Life, but those solos are a bitch.

The story I remember hearing them claim is that he was in the shower, slipped and the towel got caught on something in such a way that it wrapped around his neck.

Early stuff is bad ass, Vanishing Vision and Blue Blood were great. Some great speedy riffing with Helloween-esque catchy melodies.

I also wanted to add that I absolutely love the drummer's style on those first two albums, the beat selection is perfect and quick fills really give those songs that extra umph.

I like all their albums, they wrote some great hooks
"There is nothing more fearful than imagination without taste" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"To be stupid, selfish and have good health are three requirements for happiness, though if stupidity is lacking, all is lost" - Gustave Flaubert
