This is pretty cool! No chance I could do guitar work on it, but if no drummers stepped up, I could do that.

Chris
As for the solos, the rhythm track was split up among all the volunteers according to the number of different solos in the original, and I think it was expanded a bit to let everyone have a spot.
And for you guys who downplay your chops - it's not a competition, it's a community. Going into it I knew that I'd be playing alongside guys who had all the shred stuff that I can't do, but that didn't stop me.
Heck, if you can do a hammer-on and bend a whammy bar and a few harmonics, it's a solo!
They don't have to be chock-full-o-notes - look at I Love It Loud - 7 notes!
Or Living After Midnight - 38 notes, most of which were used again, so you've probably got about 5 different notes total.
Or Heading Out To The Highway - 13 notes, half of them re-used.
Besides, EVH has made a career off not being able to play a solo :ROTF:I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

One of the ADA admins did the editing with the guy who runs Arco Productions, the shop mentioned in the opening.
I think most of the video clips were done separately from the audio, or at least the tracks were separated. You can set up a video capture system so you are getting the Direct In audio for the video as opposed to relying on the camera to pick it up.
Most clips were sent in as separate files, and they had to be of a high-enough quality (44.1 wav, AVI video) so the editing and final rendering wouldn't have extra loss.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Yeah, this would be a GREAT idea for the JCF! Nice job on this Matt.
Hey if we could pull something like this off, count me in for vocals for sure..... I could play a little something, but I'm sure contributing as a vocallist would be a way more valuble contribution.
Can we make this a reality here?Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

So whadda we got so far, 10 total? That's enough to get started.
Here's the original on YouTube:
80's Butt Rock All-Stars equivalent to USA for Africa. Check this out just for YNGWIE!!!!Who cries for the children? DIO DOES!
I guess the first step is laying down the drums, bass, and rhythm, so Bigz if you wanna start it off with the drums?
We should start with a rough sketch and then hammer out whatever details as we go along. Once the rhythm is finalized we can add the solos and vocals.
Agree? Disagree? Discuss.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Yeah, the Frankenstein method was what I had in mind - everyone sings it all and it gets chopped up.
Who knows, someone may end up as a duet without even trying
I had thought about doing the solos that way as well - figure out how many people want a solo in the middle, loop it for x-amount of time, have everyone solo over the whole thing, then chop them up.
Again, someone could end up harmonizing with someone else, or doing a quick left-to-right complimentary panning section.

(Here's the lyrics for anyone who needs 'em)
**STARS**
Who cries for the children?
I do
Some time in the night
When you're feeling the cold
Take a look at the sky above you
Those are faces in the light
If the story were told
They are calling you, calling you
Yeah
We are magic in the night
We are shadow, we are light
We are forever you and I
We're stars
We're stars
We can be strong
We are fire and stone
And we all want to touch a rainbow
But singers and songs
Will never change it alone
We are calling you, calling you
We're the beating of a heart
The beginning we're the start
Forever we will shine
Yeah
We're stars
We're stars
We're stars
We're stars
(Guitar solos O PLENTY!!!!!)
1st solo: Craig Goldie/Eddie Ojeda
2nd solo: Vivian Campbell/Brad Gillis
3rd solo: Neal Schon/George Lynch
4th solo: Yngwie Malmsteen/Vivian Campbell
5th solo: George Lynch/Carlos Cavazo
6th solo: Brad Gillis/Craig Goldie/Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser
We are magic in the night
We are shadow, we are light
We are forever you and I
We're stars
We're stars
We're stars
We're stars
We're stars, yeah
We're stars
We are shadow, we are light
We're stars
We are magic in the night
We're stars, oh yeah
We're stars
We're stars
We are magic in the night
We're stars
We are shadow, we are light
We're stars
We're stars
We're stars
We're the magic
We're stars
We're stars
We're the beating of a heart
We're stars
Forever we will shine
