I always wanted to learn this tune, but could never convince any of my bands to play it. And it's no fun without all the different grooves and solos.
So I searched high and low - finally stumbling across this GEM of a MIDI file. I didn't think this tune could be sequenced, even as I looked for it. All I could hope for was the rhythm section - I would build from there - but this was bad-azz! This dude did every part - every guitar/key/harp solo, bass groove, and drum fill. Too cool.
So I fired up Sonar to start tracking - 1. Couldn't get a decent tone...
2. Couldn't get more than 20 minutes a shot to work on it...
3. Tubes started goin bad...
4. Blah, blah, blah
Anyhew, as we came home from my sisters house late Friday night - I made up my mind I was going to finish this damn song - if for no other reason than to get it out of my freakin head so I could start something else...
I spent almost NO time on the guitar tone, just stuck the (crappy) mic on the cone and went for it. One pass for the intro/rhythm guitar. One dub for the opening solo, one dub for the ending solo.
