what is with the pink scrunchi anyway? is that helping to reduce string noise?

Yep. I remember a seeing guys that used two handed technique alot use similar string dampening devices. Try it sometime... You can get away with ALOT more slop.

Before the flames start spraying this way, I do think the guy's got good technique, and it's impressive for what it is.

Jennifer Batten used to espouse tying an old sock around the neck in front of the nut when she was playing her 8-finger stuff. There's also a device you can fit to your guitar that attaches to the headstock and can be flipped down to dampen the strings when required. Michael Angelo had them on his 4-necked guitar, I guess because it's hard to mute effectively when you're playing legato on 2 different necks! [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

alot of times during recording myself or others i take a lil butt wipe and fold it, then slide it all the way up to the nut. It limits open notes but you become incredibly clean. Been doin that for years.

very essential tool for multi-string tappin'....or yeah..a tube sock would do.. [img]graemlins/images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

I don't know if they still make 'em ...You don't need tools or nuthin' really ..they fit into the trussrod hole and you clamp it open or close at the nut...it dampens all the open "twang" when your tappin'...
