Big Trouble (Steve Vai) solo clip

My band is doing this song, so I downloaded a backing to goof with. No, it's not note for note, but it is a fun solo to mess around on.

I used my SL2H Jackson, same amp throughout, just started with the volume rolled down on my guitar and brought it up for the solo. The tapping part was same amp, with a boost pedal in front. SM57, mic'd Peavey VTM bottom cab, into a Behringer ultragain pro preamp into the PC.

Shawn - other than that, the song is pretty boring. [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] The verses are pretty much like watching paint dry without DLR and his vocal swagger.

Pete,

Was that a Twisteramp or the Vetta or other?
Is the boost pedal that you used on the solo that one you built? Very smooth.

heheh, thanks guys. Nope, that was my Vetta.I went ahead and ran a microphone on it, and played it at a fairly low volume. I just have to eq it at the amp differently for recording like that than I do for direct stuff. I think the mic makes a difference - the amp sounds more 'alive' then. No effects added after recording either, everything was on the amp (little delay, reverb and hint of chorus).
