• Cakewalk dilemma..please help.

I just loaded up Cakewalk on my friends computer (Win. XP), he has Line 6 guitar port same as I do and everything works except we can only hear the Drum track (channel 1) in "playback" mode! If I press "record", he can't hear the drums, only his guitar while recording? I've NEVER had this happen with my cakewalk while recording. With or without headphones, NO drums during record? WTF???? It's just an imported drum loop in channel 1. I'm good with this program and checked all the settings many times over. I'm stumped.

    Anyone?

Do you guys have the same sound card?

Maybe it's the direct X driver, are you using the latest Direct X and the latest drivers for the sou8ndcard?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Don't know anything about direct X, His soundcard is Nvidea G-Force but thats all I know. We did get a popup saying something about a driver not compatible during install but since everything else works and a recorded guitar track plays fine, we didn't think that would keep the channel 1 track from playing during record. It's like other channels are muted while record is on except for the track being recorded.

His audio device is built-in to the motherboard, correct? Probably not a full duplex device. Meaning it cannot take input and playback at the same time.

              Gary,

The G-Forece is his video card, not his audio card.

Jeff might be right, if its a built in sound card it may be to lame to be full duplex...

IF not, you might try downloading the latest direct X from Windows Update site, and try the latest soundcard drivers too.

                Options

                Project Options

                Midi Input (all selected?)

                Or:

                Options

                Audio

                Advanced

                Simultaneous Record/Playback

                Gd luck!

Bosch had the fix. Thanks guys. The Simultaneous record/playback option was unchecked. It works great now!
