Walking By Myself

Well Guys,

We've been working on some tunes with my Pal Julio, so here's to you. Gary Moore's Walking By Myself.

Equipment Used:

Recording Software: Steinberg’s Cubase SX 1.06
Sound Card: M-Audio Delta 66 with Omni Studio

I used:
Charvel 650 XL
(Dean Markley Blue Steel 009 - 042)
Green Machine AmpII, Brittish Hi-Gain 1 preset. Tweaked EQ.

Julio used:
Jackson DXMG
(D’addario 009 – 046)
Green Machine AmpII, Texas Blues preset. Tweaked EQ.

Bass:
Steinberg’s Hypersonic VSTi – Pick Bass 1

Piano:
Steinberg’s Hypersonic VSTi – Natural Grand Piano

Drums:
Steinberg’s Groove Agent – Hard Rock

Voice: (I feel i can improve it, but right now this is as best as it’s gonna get...)
Mic used – Shure SM58
Effects used:
Yamaha Vocal Rack
Waves True Verb – Studio A preset
VST Dynamics – Compressor

We work around the original solo line, but came with something of our own.

That was a good clip, it had some swing. Good recording too. I liked the first solo a lot, very Gary Moorish indeed, good tone and technique too. The second solo was good too, but I wasn't crazy about that harmony bit, it seemed out of place (just MHO) somehow. But hey, thats a creative decision on the players part and so be it. Good stuff as usual.

First solo is mine, second is Julio's. He wanted to do something different and i said ok, let's do it. So he showed me this Zakk Wylde kind of lick, it's basically pentatonic sextuplets and four note groups, harmonized in fourths. I do think it's a litle out of place too, but i respected his choice.

Good to listen to!

Indeed the recording sounds very profy. The voice I needed to get accustomed to, but I always put my Winamp on repeat so that works out great.

I like the ending! Very authentique!
