I was also looking at the Kirk Hammet Dunlop which I demoed and it sounded really cool, too.
I really like the switchless setup. Once you get used to it (which, for me, took about a day) it's really great not having to push it forward to kick it on/off or accidentally not turning it off.
My favorite thing to do with the wah is to just move it forward until it brightens the tone a bit and hold it there; there's kind of a "sweet spot" depending on where you're playing and how much you want to bring it out or pull it back. I don't do too much of the "flap the pedal back and forth" 70's stuff.

Sounds like he's using the wah on every song on In Trance (hehe, let's not compare him to Hammett please). I don't know if that's heavy enough for you, though or what kind of style you prefer. He's also using it on the solo in The Sails of Charon, which is probably as far from 'pentatonic stuff' as you can get in hard/heavy rock category. I think he's alternating back and forth between the phrygian dominant scale and the phrygian mode of the natural minor. I personally like his solo in the latter song a lot.

I had to switch to the switchless b/c I could never tell when I engaged/disengaged while playing out!
