I'm curious if there's any real advantage that this course teaches, or if it's kinda useless. I have a nephew who expressed interest in this course, but I've never heard any reviews of this course from anyone that had actually tried it. My "ear" is pretty average, but after almost 30 years of playing guitar, I can usually figure out things by ear... Still, if this course actually has some amazing benefit, I'd but it for the nephew, and try it out myself. Thanks!
it did not work for me ! but i still have 1 cassette laying around ! although i would buy it again on cd and i would try again !! but the cost is alot . ron L burge i think its called

Maybe it didn't work because it tried to teach you perfect pitch from a cassette?

to be honest youll pick it up over time anyway, and its really not that useful a skill. I have it pretty nailed and all its really useful for is tuning my guitar without a reference (almost never happens), or for humouring people when on the topic and they ask "what note is this then?"

being able to recognise intervals and pitch notes relativly on the other hand is absolutely crucial, if you dont know intervals already then learn them really easy concept

I have perfect pitch on one note, the "A" note. Seriously. I can take the ability to hit a perfect A and combine it with great relative pitch and do pretty much whatever I want.

My former bro-in-law is a music professor and he tells me that real perfect pitch is more of a curse than a blessing. He says that people with perfect pitch will go nuts if something is even slightly off pitch, while others will never notice it.

It's hilarious that you say that. Whole Lotta Rosie is my "A" reference.

Perfect pitch CAN be taught, but I have heard first hand from people who learned it, that it is NOT a good thing to learn. the folks I talked to said its not fun as your constantly picking out imperfections in anytyhing you hear, even just music for fun. I dont know this personally, I just know what I have been told so take it from there. I cant confirm or deny it.
I worked with a guy who had perfect pitch. I was playing an acoustic piece that was tuned to some bizzare tuning I can't even remember

I actually tuned it a quarter step down, because for some reason the quarter step improved the sound, or so I thought.

He of course, thought I was completely out of tune and glared at me throughout the entire performance and wouldn't speak to me or drink with me afterwards.

I tune the speed of my wife's vibrator to Eb. I always used to make her pop to the first VH record. So, that's her comfort zone. If I go drop D..she has the suddden urge to poop. That's not good. ...unless she's constipated.

I wouldn't get the stupid fuggin' course..just play yer guitar!

I wish I had perfect pitch so I could write songs where I intentionally tune the strings 25 cents flat just to drive perfect pitch listeners around the bend.
