OK...gotta go...the wife~
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.
lol.. probably not.. my man can is set up old west style.. one way in and only one way out.. she may only be 5 foot and 100 pounds.. but I do NOT wanna piss her off.. mushroom cloud for sure.
Oh man...Thanks a lot!
I worked with IntelliShred for about 5 months and realized
something VERY important.
Changed my direction in life!
I want to personally thank Kevin for letting me realize my hand skills
are far better used for a soldering iron rather than playing guitar!
Seriously though, thanks for posting this, and thank you for your personal
attention to my struggles.
I need to hold up my end and take the time to "chop wood" in order to improve.
The very small steps HAVE been a big help!
Cygnus X1, THANK YOU sir for your uber-kind words! Everything including life AND guitar is a work in progress.. please.. don't give up. In a future episode I'll be mentioning this in regards to the exercises in Intelli-Shred.. do NOT feel obligated to conquer all of them before moving about and around in the book.. don't know if that was/is your case. but I have gotten so many e-mails in the vein of "dude.. I'll NEVER be able to move onto the next chapter/section.. something that falls on my shoulders is that I didn't make it clear maybe that each one addresses a certain problem spot in the picking mechanic and/or hand synchronization process.. and that they should be viewed as a "work in progress".. and as with that book or any of this stuff... or any other guitar related issues.. I only want to help and am always available to help whenever and with whatever I can.
Thank you again so much for your kind words!
Kevin, maybe you mentioned it but I missed it.
What strings and gauge do you use?
Watching your vid in the cave makes me realize how relaxed your attack is.
I tend to hit things FAR too hard (despite your advice).
Probably very inefficient on my part.
I thought of buying the arpeggio book/DVD to help me over that "hump".
But I see you address it in Intelli-Shred. Bad student!
I'm .01 or .011 EB Slinkys...put .009's on my wife's guitar and I can't play
it properly for fear of breaking strings.
Depends on the tuning.. for standard I use DR 9s but they're 9-46 instead of 9-42.. for D standard 10s.. for 7 string 9-56... regardless of tuning or gauge.. my pick attack is usually light and controlled.. especially for this type of stuff. I'm extremely choked up on the pick and only use the tiniest part of the tip and currently I'm using 1.0 Dunlop Ultex Sharps.
