Hey guys, while stringing my guitar the first string somehow tore from the top. Now it's not long enough to reach all the way to the tuning key for the first string but it is just about enough to put it into the sixth tuning key(which is closer to the nut). Can anyone tell if it will cause any problem if I wind the 1st string in the 6th tuning key and put the 6th string in the tuning key of the first?

I bought these expensive cryogenically frozen strings (I was a newbie and the shop owner convinced me) and I broke 3 of the 6 strings. I was so pissed off! I couldn't believe that I was that stupid. Cryogenically frozen strings?!
Anyway, stuff like this happens. Cygnusx1 S.I.T string suggestion is a good one, because of the extra high E. Good luck!Jackson ke3 kelly trans blue

I have twisted the two ends together by making two interlocked loops using pliers before. Give it a shot, it might get you up and going again._________________________________________________

Sounds crazy, but will work. Make sure to pull both ends of the knot tight to prevent slippage*(tuning wise). Very janky, but sometimes it's cool to be able to avoid driving a good distance or even worse the music store's closed.
EDIT ~ (for clarity) Basicly tie a slipknot, before tightened put anextra knot to prevent it slipping out. http://www.google.com/imgres?q=knots...,r:2,s:0,i:146
If it doesn't give you the pop up image, scroll down to the image of many knots and the bottom middle is what I'm trying to express. Will work on anything up to a 13 gauge. CheersLast edited by Jayster; 06-22-2012, 08:41 PM.Enjoying a rum and coke, just didn't have any coke...

Gibson used to give you extra E and B's per pack in some of their sets. Musicians Friend and places that offer strings in bulk lots of singles like http://www.juststrings.com/plainstee...lkstrings.html are good stops when you dont want to travel.
Just plain strings will charge one rate for shipping (6.95 was mine) but I ordered about a dozen sets of 12 singles, so it made up for it.
