I never did; keep in mind that the last few years of his life weren't super rosy. I can say though, that whenever we'd discuss specs on Big Red (for JCF 02), he'd always perk up, and we'd talk about what pickups were in there, and how chrome floyds sound better than black ones (I kind of agree).

          Chrome hardware SOUNDS BETTER???

          This is news to me!

...and I think it was Warren that said that in an interview back in the '80's.

At the time I chocked it up to too much weed!!

Anyway, I did talk with Robbin about the various albums, equipment etc. but I honestly couldn't say with any accuracy now what he said for each specifically.

One thing I DO remember is that he used a BC Rich Warlock (borrowed) for his parts on the 6 song EP and that early on, he & Warren shared the same Marshall in the studio when recording.

Whoa! A Warlock? That was my other favorite as a kid. Didn't he say that EP was the sound of Ratt that he preferred? Tell the World!!

That's what he told me Said that he swapped the black floyd out of Big Red for a chrome one because it sounded better. My disclaimer is that this was NOT a Larry Flint conversation.

Great thread but I must say, chrome vs black hardware with sound is really funny, I thought I heard it all lol.

but, RIP Robin, what a terrible loss :-(
