  • How to growl like Wolf Hoffmann

I've been listening to a lot of Accept, and I was wondering how to do the growl at 4:23 in this video. I think he is bending a lower note to 1/2 step above the note he's playing at the same time. They do this a lot in blues bending 1 step to match the other note, sounds like he's bending 1 1/2 steps to do it. I can hardly bend 1 full step using 2 fingers right now, so I can't really test it myself.

    Any help?

I believe it's holding the 15th fret on the b string and bending the 14th on the g string up a step. Use the ring finger to fret the b string, fret the g with the middle finger, and use the index finger for support/strength for the bend.

I think the subtle wah being used at the time of the being might be throwing off the phantom pitch raise you are hearing on the other note.
