  • foot tap and beat count

Hi there i have been practicing the beat count with my foot to keep the rythm on my playing, something i am begining to do. Everything goes fine until i speed up things and when i count the sub divisions, for the sixteenth notes and other faster ones, i simply cant count as fast as that and my foot gets out of control and my mind feels like is gonna blow up due to overusage. .Is this usual at the begining? Will my mind be able to work faster than a super computer?
I would apreciate if someone could give me some advice on practicing this.
    Thanks in advance.

Stick with 4 beats and just speed up your hands.

Make sure that your foot is only tapping/coming down on the down beat.. the " 1.. 2.. 3.. 4..".. and NOT the divisions of the up beat.. the "e & a".. focus on keeping that pulse of the down beats "1..2..3..4..".. consistent and even.. just like the click of a metronome.. downbeats=foot hitting the floor.. upbeat=foot in the air.

Count them at slower tempos while you ingrain the feel of the subdivision. As you count, really accent the 1. 1-e-&-a, 2-e-&-a.

As you get faster, rely on the feel of the subdivision. With 16th notes, focus on hitting the beat with a downstroke each time. Triplets have a 'swing' feel and every second beat will be an upstroke.
