• Question about harmonizing

So how does it work in solos and riffs? is it playing different notes in the same key? or just playing the same thing like 3 frets down or higher?

    I'm confuzzeled

    Re: Question about harmonizing

A kinda "simple" way to do it that sounds really cool is to play the same part in intervals of thirds. Basically whatever key you're playing in play the same thing in the same scale but 2 notes higher or lower IN THE SAME SCALE. Not just 2 notes up or down but whatever would come 2 notes later in that scale. So usually it will be a step and a half or 2 steps different. Alot of times the part won't sound right on it's own that way but sounds really cool with the melody.

blindmuddy is on the right track. Also, You may want to learn the modes. It helped me with that sort of thing. Also a book on theory may help. You can learn some of that stuff without getting too involved with reading music.
