It's pretty good but keep in mind it is a little older.
There are many cd or dvd sets out there with updated technique.
You might want to check out George Bellas. Also, on Rusty Cooley's site under links he has a lot of other guitarist links and there are a lot of good ones selling instructionals.

Wow ... the George Bellas material is not cheap. Does anyone have any of his material? I am curious how much instruction on 2 string sweeping you get for $75. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Seriously, does anyone have any of his CDs and are they worth the money?

it will help you technique a lot...but keep in mind: be patient, start at the beginning, and use a metronome. three things i didn't do and wish'd i did.

Thanks Warbird, I only play with a metronome (except when first learning to memorize the sound of something), and I'm decently fast, 130 tempo in 16ths is my top speed and I've been playing a bit over a year.

Yeah I know it's not cheap. But he is very good and it is well worth the money if you can afford it.

Most of the stuff on these cd's is on the net somewhere. If you dig you can find a lot of FREE info and technique on various guitar sites.
Apreggios are all over the place on guitar sites - mapped out for you to play. The trick is to develop your sweep picking and finger coordination which of course only comes through practice.
I bought a guitar chord book and mapped out myself the 7th arpeggios and diminished ones on the fretboard.

Not too many people know 7th's very well all over and up and down on the neck.

Once you map them out in one spot you can map them out all over the neck and run up and down the neck with the same Cmaj7th arpeggio for example and its sounds awsome.
I did the same for maj7th, min7th, dominant 7th and diminished (as well as major & minor).
Then learn to combine one arpeggio after another and do runs up and down the neck in a Em key for example.
You really don't need any instructional to do this process but you will need to develop your sweep picking.
So for Em start down low on the neck and arpeggiate Dmaj, Em, then the diminished chord located in the dorian position after the Em, then Gmaj, Amin, Bmin, Cmaj and you will be back at Dmaj. Or you can go from Em to Em - doesn't matter where you start.
You can run up a whole scale up the neck in the key of Em (Gmaj)using the first three or 4 strings and the above arpeggios. Just map them out.

My speed mechanics came in the mail yesterday right on time for my Birthday, looked over the book and it looks great as people suggested. Time to get practicing on it now though [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]
