• random tone question: Accept - Fast as a Shark

Sorta a random spur-of-the-moment question: What exactly is he doing at the beginning of the solo in that song (at like 2:25) It's sorta like almost pinch-harmonics, except much more 'throaty' sounding. Very cool

This post brought to you by free espresso at work and random boredom.

Wish I knew more of Accepts' stuff. I'm working on the solo for Metal Heart at the moment (the way Dimmu Borgir does it). Not easy!

It's an old german drinking song, I think.

EDIT: Helps to read the actual question, lol!

It is a pinch-fest. I hate typing tab so...
Starts Low E string fifth fret, then up to A string 2nd fret (bend release bend release), Low E 2nd fret (bend release), Open Low E

Low E 3rd fret, A string 2nd fret (bend release bend release), Open A

Oh, yeah...
The pinch is two octaves up.

Re: random tone question: Accept - Fast as a Shar

here's a link to a clip:

http://www.its.caltech.edu/~mosser/A...olo%20clip.mp3

the part I'm talking about is just the beginning of the solo (from ~10 seconds to ~17 seconds in that clip)

it sounds like there's something going on there other than just plain pinch harmonics, although maybe that's just my pinch harmonics. I have no problem getting the huge squeals, etc; but there's that lower 'throaty' quality to what he's doing in that clip that I can't quite seem to get. Maybe that's the neck pickup for that first bit of the solo? I'm at work with no access to a guitar now, but I'll see what I can do with that info when I get home, nor; thanks! Sounds like he might be using a fuzz...
