Gone downhill? I wouldn't say that, I really like God Hates Us All, it's one of my favorite albums out of the whole metal scene. Araya's vocals are especially good on this album.

As for melodic metal, Slayer should never go there. All metal can't be that way, we have to have somebody in the place of shred. Melodic metal is great, but not all the time. I'm sorry, but Symphony X just doesn't cut it when I'm extremely pissed off and need something to get it out of my system.
