• melodic, melancolic solo

Hi, here is the case, jajaja, I am trying to make a melodic, melancholic solo for a song of my band (we play something similar to metallica, megadeth, etc). The problem is that I have tried several versions in the past 3 or 4 month but don't like any of them, because I found that they are plain, flat, mere notes without direction, without a climax. So I want to know if you guys have any tips that could help me in this task.

Thanks!

Try listening to some melodic classical or other style for inspiration, try the solos you've already done backwards, anything that might inspire new ideas,or if you have to, get away from it for awhile & hopefully it'll seem fresh when you try again??!!

try to construct the solo by parts...make melody lines that flow with the melody of the song/riffs
I usually improvise a solo and then I'll listen to it afterward, I'll hear a part that I think fits then keep that, chuck the rest, start over...until I have all the pieces of the puzzle so to speak
good luck...

Most good 'classic metal' solos are made up of parts.

Try and practicing and jamming in different scales and modes, depending on your mood.

Also try shifting everything up or down the fretboard.

And use a lot of slides and bends.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.
