• The Amazing Slow Downer

I wasn't quite sure where to put this one. But, it's a killer program (free download) to help you learn tunes. It slows down without changing pitch. I would have KILLED to have this when I was learning to play! Check it out!

I could use a speeder upper. And, no I get no kick back from them. If more people had this, they wouldn't need to download all that wrong tab!

              Re: The Amazing Slow Downer

I downloaded the free trial version to check it out. It is awesome! The free one will play the first 25% of a song which is enough to see if you like it. I'm debating between paying the $40 for the full version or buying a Tascam CD-GT1 (or whatever it's called).

Save yourself the moolah and use the built-in slow downer in Windows Media Player 9 or Windows Media Player 10. Even slows down VIDEO which I find very useful for my vidcaps.

                  Re: The Amazing Slow Downer

The free version will also play the complete first track of a CD. Just make the tune you need first! I tried the windows thing, I like this better. But windows media player slowing down video is pretty cool.

                      Re: The Amazing Slow Downer

At the top of Windows Media Player 9, I go to View, Enhancements, Play Speed Settings. Up pops a slider for controlling the speed of the file being played. Have fun!

                        Re: The Amazing Slow Downer

Make sure you rip the CD to WMA lossless or to WAV if you're going to use Windows Media. At half speed, lossy compression sounds like shite.

Also, check out transkriber at http://www.reedkotler.com, the "official transcribing software of Guitar One Magazine". The cool thing about transkriber is that you can pitch shift if the song is tuned down or up from standard. Plus you can loop a phrase. And you can save your loops with names like "solo 1, 1st 4 measures".

Slow downer does the same. Plus a hold button for problem chords. Also has a graphic EQ to bring out the instrument you need. I don't think it saves loops, never tried. I like the slow downer. It was free.

Get Pacemaker for Winamp, it's a plugin you can find at winamp.com...You can speed thing's up, slow them down, change pitch without changing tempo, and change the speed of a song as without retaining pitch too, if you feel like it....It's totally free and works great....I'm pretty sure it works for videos too...

Does Pacemaker also plug into Windows Media Player? I used a Chronotron plugin for a while that was compatible with Windows Media Player as well as Winamp but it expired. Such a great program for shifting the pitch and tempo independently. But do elaborate on Pacemaker some more, I'm interested! Thank you!
