Any crazy tunings you guys ever try?

I want something new becuase I notice I am very repetitive when writing music.

Which ones work good for a metal/rockish music.

    Re: Alternate Tunings

I've never tried an altered tunings for metal stuff. But Keef has had some success using Open G for all those classic Stones songs.

I like using DADGAD for acoustic stuff. Sounds good strummed or fingerpicked. DADGCD is a good one too. Sevendust used it for Angel's Son, but IIRC, tuned down a whole step.

Yeah DADGAD (Dsus4) is a killer.
Also C F Bb Eb G C is very cool.

        Re: Alternate Tunings

For Black Label Society kinda Metal go as low as drop B or A. For a little bit more of chunk and agression go for Eb. I usually never go lower than drop D, but I'm thinking about using my V as a guitar for drop tunes since it's a great rhythm guitar (also a great lead guitar, but I'm getting a KE2 tomorrow which is a tad better IMO)

If you go really low, you have to remember to use heavier gauge strings or else they'll go from rubber bands to practically unplayable.
