What style of Metal do you play?

There are many styles of metal... death metal, thrash, speed, shred, progressive, glam, etc... what style do you play and how do you describe it?

I probably play death metal/hardcore and shred. I like growly vocals, heavy rhythm and leads that tear it up.

Death/Thrash/ Hardcore(real HC old boston/NYC shit because if there is anything I can't stand is when people were calling the Deftones HC) with the occasional Funk and blues

I play mostly classic 80's type stuff like Ozzy, Dokken, Metallica, and other stuff that's more rock than metal (Rainbow, AC/DC, Deep Purple, etc).

I want to get into shred and power metal stuff but I'm not good enough yet. I've learned parts of Black Star, Far Beyond The Sun, and Altitudes but the solo's are still beyond me (been playing since June 2004...)

Bluesy hard rock, classic metal, thrash, old hardcore, power metal and death metal are all influences in the way I play. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] I'm mostly a rhythm player, but my leads are getting better nowadays.

i have two bands....one is more like a jam session than an actual band, though [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] i'm playing ozzy, metallica, slayer, iced earth type of stuff with that one

my other band final breath (which is a more serious one ^^ ) plays thrash metal with death influences.

when i'm practicing at home, i'm usually playing stuff like dream theater, yngwie, symphony x, or some jeff loomis leads ^^....you got to keep the chops, you know? [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

old school Metallica, Dokken, Ratt, Yngwie, etc.

I like some newer metal (Children of Bodom, Shadows Fall), but I'm not a big fan of the cookie monster vocals and scooped mids that most young metal bands have.

That's cool you have a lot of influences in your playing. Sometimes I think we have a lot of influences but forget to put them in our playing and stick to a certain style.

Prog metal, jazz, country, SRV type blues, pop, and classical. I play them all but I haven't mastered any of them. I have just gotten into the Scottish National Jazz youth orchestra though, so I must be making some progress.

It's kind of a blend of 80's type metal, and todays newer stuff. Leans mostly towards the older stuff though.
