One of the best advice I ever got is:
play/practice standing up.
solves a bunch of posture issues, especially on the right arm.
Also, try having it hang as low as your left hand allows... less strain on the right shoulder imo. It took me some time to get used to doing everything standing up, but much less time than expected (2, 3 weeks?). Its damnwell worth it.

Yep except trying to hang it too low will not allow proper angle of your fingers for soloing - that is if you want to shred.
Also, here is fun one to try...
-------------10/15 17 19 22 24--22-19-17-15\-10-----
-----------12----------------T------------------12----
---------12---------------------------------------12----
-------12-------------------------------------------12-----
-10--14-----------------------------------------------14-10--
-------------------------------------------
Slide your first finger up from the 10th fret to the 15th to complete the G arpeggio and use your remaining fingers to hit the other fretted notes then tap the 24th note then back down.
This one took me a while. It is a Tony Smotherman lick courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Shredmonster.
