I used to use brass picks but they KILL the strings when you do that satchy ultra fast pick taps.

there is a reason celluloid is the standard pick material. when it heats up, it sticks. and everywhere i've played, its been hot on stage.

I swtich back and forth between four different picks, all Dunlops... in order of preference:

1. Gator Grip purple .96
2. Gel picks red heavy
3. Gel picks yellow extra heavy
4. Ultex 1.00

I like the Dunlop purple and the blue ones. I am pretty sure they are tortex. Its that dull finish. They last a long time.

My son loves my old Bakersfield Blacks from the '80s. They're indestructible.

I find turning the stage lights on in my bedroom gives me a headache. Especially when they bounce off the mirror on the ceiling.

As a Certified Bedroom Hack, the Stubbies are fine for me. Plus I've found they've really helped my technique, the improvement is obvious to me when I grab a regular pick now. Plus I just like 'em [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I used to use only fender picks, until they changed the material that they were making them with....(which was in the early 80's - switched around, tried a lot of others and ended up with Fender extra heavy's until I came across those Everly Bros. "Star" picks...now I use them almost exclusively. They never slip out of my hand and use different thicknesses based upon the gauge of string and type of music...Mostly I use the purple (the heaviest pick) but go between "blue" and "green"....I also use the stubby's!

I got two Jazz III's (black) and they've never worn down a bit, and they give a much cleaner attack... Defently another vote here.

Clear 1.0 mm Dunlop Big Stubby's for a long time. Then Yellow .73 mm Dunlop Tortex for a long time. Then Green .88 mm Planet Waves (tortex type?) and Green .88 Dunlop Tortex for a few months. Lastly both .93 mm Clayton Ultem and 1.0 mm Dunlop Ultex are the one for me now until the next time I change (which could be tomorrow at this rate) [img]/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif[/img] Still use a Big Stubby and a green Planet Waves on occasion.

I've always used fender heavy but want something a little stiffer so am playing around with some 1.5mm dunlops. I haven't decided if I like them yet or not.
