Can anyone reccomend a good video coarse? I've been playing for a long time, and all the while, really never knew what I was doing theory wise. I've looked into a few different coarses, Fretboard Logic, Guitar Grimoire, Metal Method etc. Any thoughts on what would be my best route?

Re: Theory
Try Frank Gambales Modes Vid/dvd-he explains and shows the modes/theory well.
He also has two books out
The frank gambale technique books
(the essential soloing theory course for all guitarists!)
There are two books(with tapes/cd's)that between them cover all the theory you need with plenty of exercises/all the scale shapes and fantastic(hard to play )licks
To be honest i dont like his comps/bands but Frank can spank the plank with the best of them and is prob the best teacher out there

Re: Theory
The Stetina books are great and you may want to check out Matt Smith's Chop Shop book and if you can find a copy of Al Pitrelli's (ex Megadeth, Savatage, Alice Cooper and current Trans Siberian Orchestra) video "Applied Theory for Rock Guitar and Beyond".DiMarzio Endorsee

Re: Theory
Theory is very important, alot of people can play Pentatonic well but few know what Dorian, Lydian ,Mixolydian ,Harmonic Minor, Wholetone. Those are some of the scales you NEED to know to continue progressing at guitar, remember we are all students and that doesn't change. This space for rent

Re: Theory
It depends on what you cal theory. If you think of it as modes and scales then that cool, but I tend to think of it as everything to do with written music. Eg. rhythm, harmony, key signatures, time signatures. Theory should help you to write music onto paper without your instrument. If you can write what's in your mind onto paper then you know your theory.
