btw, if you're on stage and feel that things aren't "right", go and slap your singer well, assuming you're good friends, of course the look he'll be giving you is priceless...just make sure to laugh while doing it lol...you can also scream "i'm rick james, bitch", or the infamous "what did the five fingers say to the face" joke right before doing so LOL
ok, maybe you shouln't really do that....i mean, we're doing it all the time, but then again, my other guitar player once punched the singer right in his face before a gig....i'll never forget that...next thing was that the singer kicked the guitar player, hit his hand, and therefore he fucked up half of the leads.....
shit like that keeps it interesting to say the least

"With your setlist, 95% of the folks in the audience won't know the songs"
I disagree. I assume most people will know the material. I even think that the GuitarTab Squad Police will be there to scrutinize each of our songs ... God knows they will be pissed cause we love to spice things up with some extras ...

"Just pratice what you have to practice before and when you get on stage you'll be ready"
Unfortunately, the show is in a less than a month and I won't have enough time to practice sufficiently in my opinion. So be warned, there will be some sort of improv !
On the plus side, we decided to let go of some of the crazier stuff ... but I still have to learn to sweep those damn 24th at 160 bpm (that is if our drummer behaves).

FSU, will you be there to see us ?

If you go onstage unsure of yourself and nervous that you are going to fuck up, you're certainly going to fuck up. If you go onstage full of attitude and confidence, you're still gonna fuck up, but at least your gonna look cool!!!

Why can't you get ready in a freakin' MONTH? If you can't get ready for a show in a month, you're never gonna be ready!

"Why can't you get ready in a freakin' MONTH?"

Well ... we rehearse once a week and I barely have time to practice one hour every 2 days at home ...
The solos take most time to learn ... First I tab them (if I'm lucky, I get a GP file from mysongbook.com that is usable). Then I work different patterns for the tough parts (I try to build speed for each of them until I find one that I can play fast enough). Honestly, with the weekly time I invest into this, it takes me months to get a solo to an acceptable level and only one week to forget it ... So the more songs I know, the harder it is to learn some new ones cause I need to keep the others in good shape !
Or perhaps I really have poor skills.

Hopefully, only one crazy solo made it to the setlist ... and this little devil will probably get half of my remaining practice time ... not too wise of a choice considering it is only a 45 sec part in a one hour set!

Less sleep, more guitar!

I left band practice at 4:45AM tuesday morning... Usually we're done by 3AM. And I worked 8 hours the next day.

Well, I "know" you from the CDM board so I thought you had figured it out by knowing that the party is on March 25th ... on second thought, that was unlikely.
And perhaps you could replace me if I get kicked out of the band ! That would be an opportunity for you to find a band that is VERY versatile in the metal genre ...
But this won't happen and I trust we'll all have a very good time.

Sorry, it's already critical for me at 6-hour per night.

oh damn, yeah I should have hooked up ... yeah I'll likely be there, as long as my friend doesn't work that night. Even if he does I'll try to get a ride to get there.

and by the way, I may have found some good bandmates so I'll see what happens ... a drummer and a lead guitar, I'd do the singing and some leads as well.

what's your nickname on CDM by the way ?

well, having read sonicsamurai's comments in the Jason Becker plays Yngwie thread, I'd now have to say: not until you can play everything in your setlist absolutely perfectly. To hit a bum note is to disrespect your audience and the sacred music you are (attempting) to play.

That one time I say Steve Vai flub a note was the worst day of my life and I haven't been to a concert since. Don't do it your audience. For god's sake, won't somebody think of the children?

So until you can play a note perfect concert, just like seasoned pros like Keef Richards & Neil Young, fuggedaboutit!
