Decent EVH Lessons?

I have been working on my EVH lately and started to check on some available lessons. Most of these just have a dude shredding away and then slowing down for 2 seconds and on to the next riff. Any solid recommendations, in addition to practicing my ass off! Anyone know of some good EVH technique DVDs or online stuff that is available. It would be great if I could loop the DVD, can't figure that one out? Thanks!

Check out Guitar Method with Curt Mitchell(Van Halen) DVD. You can pick it up on-line or at a Guitar Center. It isn't bad. Oh, and practice you ass off!!!!!

This guy used to have tab but I think it's all gone. It is still worth checking out because he gives some overall pointers about playing VH stuff too. The top menu has V H Tips .

A program to slow songs down without changing the pitch is a big help too. They not only make it much easier to pick out the notes on your own but they reveal rhythms that were not obvious to my ear at full speed.

Thanks. I have been pretty good with the EVH leads, but to nail the rhythms accurately gets a little tricky. I have tried a couple of devices that slow tempo, but they effected the pitch, so they were not too great. Anyway, I'll check the site out. I appreciate the help.

Yeah, JFRocks used to have just about every VH song tabbed out, with either a video instruction or an audio instruction along with it. It was great, until the whiney ass crybabies in the biz started to threaten tab sites. Now he has songs that sound like VH songs, but aren't exact.

It sucks.

"windows" media player 10 has the slow down funtion without dropping in pitch.
Yes, its very handy and I've used just for those occasions.
I learned Michael Schenkers Mad Axeman and Feels Like A Good Thing, including some older classic VH stuff with it.
A very useful tool.

I've got most of the stuff he had available to download before the law suit thingy and I bought a VH 1 lesson CD.

The "ear" is an interesting thing.
Some of his VH stuff was pretty close.
Although, some stuff I thought was wrong not even close.
This I can say, the intro to meanstreet, he nailed it dead on. I've heard many play it and each sounded different. Some closer than others, but Jeff, he got it right. Yeah, its too bad, alot of the younger kids today starting out could have really benefited from his VH stuff before the law suit. It was pretty close for the most part.

I agree with Soap, I have yet to hear another person play the intro to "Mean streets" as good as he did.
Although Chucksplatter played it at my house once on his G/B HRF prepro and it was scary close! [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
Some of the other stuff on JFrocks was not so close, but it was a good general VH resource.

It is crazy how many different transcriptions I have seen to Eruption. Some were way way off! The JFrocks website is very cool, and there was some real good info there - thanks!

The Curt Mitchell dvd is ok. I like using Power Tab myself. It plays back in midi so you can slow it down any amount without the pitch being affected.
