  • What is "Power Tab"?

What is power tab? Where do you get it? Is it a program? How is it different from regular tab? Thanks

    hi...

Power Tab was a program for tabbing songs. It played back in Midi and could have drums\bass\guitar etc. I say 'was' because they were one of the 1st site to bow down to pressure regarding copyright in music and shut down!!

Looks like they have passed the tabs off to be 'external' now so check out:

Power Tab is inferior to Guitar Pro, which allows more instruments\tracks and is more user friendly, and has a new RSE engine instead of midi and is alround better (imo)

Explore the official Guitar Pro Tab and Music Score Catalog. Rock, Metal, Pop, Folk... find all legendary tabs from your favorite artists transcribed by professional musicians.

Guitar Pro is a tablature editor software for guitar, bass, and other fretted instruments. Equipped with a powerful audio engine, it makes writing music easier, and it constitutes an essential tool for guitarists.

AGAIN though, pressure over copyright etc has forced them to kind of shutdown..

      Guitar Pro - $60
      PowerTab - Free

That may explain why Guitar Pro has more features

I tried the Guitar Pro demo, thing locked up on me twice in two tries. Not a good way to try to get me to shell out $60.
              Just a guitar player...
