  • muting strings when sweeping

whenever i sweep pick it sounds really dirty because the other strings keep ringing, i've seen people mute it with their thumbs and some with their palm, but i can't get it that good.

Anyone know any good ways to make it sound more clean?

    thanks

i'm practicing sweeps lately and I find it's the best to palm mute the notes right after you play them on strings 4,5 and 6, others are not that big problem.

what's that thumb muting? with the right hand thumb?

start slow and learn how to do it right so you dont have to mute them

This is the guy, its just some sweeping vid on youtube
I made this over 2 years ago and supposedly it has helped a lot of people learn how to sweep. (but i doubt it) i had been playing almost 3 years at the time ...

nice video, but he doesn't recommend using thumb for muting the strings.

Does anybody know what guitar is he using? Looks like a RR1, but with no pickguard.

Well it also has 24 frets, but it has a neck pickup. I don't know of any model with these features, including the Jackson Stars line (all of those have pickguards)...
so it's probably either a custom Jackson or something else (maybe ESP, I've seen some bands play total RR ripoffs made by ESP).

if you look at this lesson, you can see it's a Jackson. Can't tell you what model though....

ah, well there you go. A KV2. I wasn't sure if King Vs were 24 fretters.

The simplest answer is that it is a King V, probably a KV2.

Muahahaha, shadowcat, now we're even for the RR5 thing!
