+1 although I don't think "moderate" is how I'd describe Loomis or Romeo
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Intro has cool mix of alternating and sweep actually if you are playing correctly, but who is keeping score anyway

+2 You guys crack me up! He's asking for moderate-level sweep picking stuff and you guys are suggesting Loomis, Cooley, Becker?

Any of the older Testament albums. In particular the song "Apocalyptic City" from the first album has some cool sweeping in it.

that's SOP on a guitar forum. Start with some 'easy' stuff like Loomis & Becker, and once you've got 7 string sweeps down, we'll get you started on some more difficult stuff. Oh, and I can pick 40 nps, but my webcam's busted or I'd show you....

OK. Point taken, on of the most straight forward sweep picking solos that I can think of is the first part of Hamment's in Leper Mesiah off Master (E minor, F major and G major):

                  U - upstroke
                  D - Downstroke

                  D U U D D D
E---19-15----------15--- 4 times (picking is for the first one - it will vary
B---------17----17------ for the next three in that the first note
G------------16--------- will need to be an unstroke to keep
it fluid - you will get it)
                  E---20-17----------17--- 2 times
                  B---------18----18------
                  G------------17---------

                  E---22-19----------19--- 2 times
                  B---------20----20------
                  G------------19---------

                  E---19-15----------15--- 4 times
                  B---------17----17------
                  G------------16---------

and then into a e string descending run......

He plays it fast, but it is obviously not complicated and not a bad place to start IMHO.

you know, I don't think either of those have been mentioned in this thread yet....

Nevermore & Cacophony are both good starting points for the beginner looking to first get into sweeping. You don't want to start on anything TOO difficult until you get the basics down.

Have you guys heard Keith Richards or Pete Townsend sweep? Those guys are so fast, and they do this cool thing where they let the notes run into each other, to obtain this effect I like to call "chords". That "ch" sounds like a K as in kite, not ch as it choadboy.

Get yourself a metronome, log on to youtube and search for Marc Seal. He's got a great tutorial on sweeping posted there.
