The suggested "you tube" with Marc Seal will prove helpful.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

+2 You guys crack me up! He's asking for moderate-level sweep picking stuff and you guys are suggesting Loomis, Cooley, Becker?
Might as well throw in the intro to Malmsteens Desciples of Hell!

+1 on Leper Messiah, I forgot about that one. And I do it with a pull-off at the beginning of each sweep, which makes it even smoother - all upstrokes one way, all down the other.

Michael Angelo Batio has some instuctional DVD's which address the subject also. He's a bit of a goofball, but the man can sweep.

It's a sweep from Chops From Hell. That's a pretty awesome site for technique. You guys should check it out sometime.

              Hmmm I can't not reply

I usually don't post as I learn much more by reading but maybe I can save you a lot of trouble. DON'T be fixated on a TECHNIQUE be it sweeping, tapping, picking, legato or tremolo bar tricks.. First, don't beat yourself up if you can't sweep like Becker or any of the other name players..Theres a reason why the're famous.Secondly theres a lot of ways to play arpeggios. Sweeping is a great thing to have in your arsenal but its just one of many things available. Try string skipping arpeggios you get better articulation and can change the rhythmic patterns like Gilbert or try the shawn Lane method..HUGE streches on one string-string skip to next octave-repeat...E minor(e,g,b) low E 12(E)/15(b)/19(g) D string e(14)/g(17)/b(21) e string 12(e)/15(b). Go on you tube and type in Chris Brodderick(ex- Nevermore),Michael Romeo,Greg Howe,Shawn Lane,Brett Garsed...they all execute the same notes in very different ways....thats the magic of guitar its very personal and individual. For good free stuff go to Chops from Hell.com or just power tab your favorite players and break the solos up into small sections to practice....try early Yngwie.."too young to die too Drunk to live"

I remember watching his on line show ages ago on digevent.com. He Fucking ruled! Albeit he refused to teach Slayer songs, which was a bit of a bummer.

Run through slow and then reverse... articulate each note, then work on speeding it up without getting sloppy.... combine it with scales, use it to get to spots that you want...

i've noticed that sweepin is easier on my KV2 i just got saturday.

even just practicing somethin like this (all the way up and down the neck) can help you get the basic idea down. I usually practice sweeps on clean channel or even without an amp to make sure i can hear if/where i'm messing up. Typically muting and timing are the hardest parts. It takes time but keep workin on it bro!

                        Oops... I transcribed that wrong...

Fixed.... This is actually how I play it...

                        ------------------------7---------------------------------7--12--
                        ---------------------8-----8---------------------------8---------

                        0--3------------------------------------12-----------------------

Run it all the way up and then back down a few times, it'll warm up your sweep, then go through the progression of arpeggios in the various modes...

I suck at sweep picking but I love how arpeggios sound. So basically I have created my own way of incorporating them to my solos cause I can't do long sweep picked passages without sounding really sloppy. I combine shorter sweeps with short legato or 2-3 notes per string picked parts. I also occasionally stretch to form an arpeggio on one string or use string skipping or tapping. On the following two videos You can see what I mean...

Here I start the arpeggio with added notes to get more of an alternate picking motion going with only two string sweeps in between. Then I end each phrase with easy 3 string sweeps combined with legato stuff on high E. Makes the arpeggios sound a bit more "personal". Or You can call it cheating as well.

Here is a solo where I do many different styles of arpeggios like Mustaine style two string pedal licks, tapped stuff, string skipping and wide Becker influenced sweeped arpeggios.
Full song here:http://www.diceoffate.comThis is my solo from the first Jackson Guitar Palace forum jam. The song is called "Challenge". Megadeth fans should ...

If You check my other videos You find some short examples as well. On the very end of Without Lilith solo I combine 3 different arpeggio shapes but it looks like I'm playing just one 4 string arpeggio. On Angels & Ravens I use arpeggios to form shorter melodic lines - again just avoiding continuos sweeping cause I can't do it.

Sorry for going a little OT though. I'd suggest studying some stuff from Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn album - there are so many interesting arpeggios forms there.
