My main is in E. I keep a few around in Eb and drop D for covers. I'm not very good with open tunings. All are strung with Custom 9's with heavier low strings or 10's. Not a big fan of really light strings.

You can tuna fish, but you can't tune a guitar!
Mostly E here, but I'm concidering trying out Eb more, since so many of my idols from the 80's play in Eb. I try to avoid drop D tuning, but sometimes I just have to if I want to play a certain song.."This ain't no Arsenio Hall show, destroy something!"

I never change tunings on guitars, I only change guitars.
I mainly use Eb standard and B standard, because that's what we tune to in my two bands. Eb for the melodeath band, B for the brutal death band(where the other guy plays a 7-string).
But whatever tuning I use, I try to get the same string tension.
So my JacksonStars Rhoads, Soloist Archtop Pro and KVX10 are tuned to Eb with 10.5-49 strings.
My COW DK6 and DKMGT are tuned to B with 13-56 strings.
I also have a Dean Vendetta 3.0 for E standard with 10-46s, and a JS30WR Warrior for D standard with 11-52 strings (this one has basically become a Chuck Schuldiner tribute guitar, I always whip it out for playing Death songs).
The odd one is my acoustic, stringed with 11s but tuned to E standard. This one's good for finger strength!

The one that sounds right once tuned to pitch, doesn't matter whether its standard E or E flat, A 440, or open tuning stuff.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...
"Anyone who tries to fling crap my way better have a really good crap flinger."
I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.
Yes, there's a bee in the pudding.
