  • Wrist Hurts like hell from Death/Thrash metal picking!

Lately I've been playing a LOT of Death and Thrash metal with the ever-so-popular "000000000222222222222555555555" shred stuff with 16th notes. Anyway, this bone on my wrist hurts sooooo goddamn much right now, it's like throbbing, it's insane. It's the one that sticks out a bit if you have skinny wrists. Is there a specific way to place your hand for this type of playing style? Has this happened to anyone else?
    Thanks a lot

Ron, don't tell me you were the one licking the chocolate off the strawberries and putting them back in the plate

I have that sometimes as well. I noticed that when I dont actually relax and allow my wrist to move freely and try to pick with finger and thumb only it kill me. Now that I have started to concentrate on technique and actually allow my wrist to move, lol it is better. You could always take some video of a few songs and focus on your pick hand and see what turns up.

The older I get, the more problem I have with pain. Usually it's from overdoing things. Rest and moderation is my advice.

It will probably go away eventually as your hand gets used to things.

When my right wrist hurts I give my jimmy a few days of rest.

Warmup, stretch, and build up to speed. Make sure you stop when it hurts. Don't be a dumbass like me. After years of doing that stuff, I had to go and have this done.

                        Recovery sucked.
