I approach this like one would do weight lifting. Play till it starts to hurt a bit then relax, then play again till it hurts. Sort of like doing reps. You'll notice yourself taking shorter breaks between reps and being able to go longer before feeling the fatigue.

Owning a new USA Jackosn will help. Not sure how, but tell you wife you need one. LOL

Be careful with that. Make sure it is muscle burn causing the "pain" and not stress on tendons, etc.

I once heard a famous guitar player (I believe it was Kirk Hammett) who said "no pain, no gain" generally DOES NOT apply to guitar playing. As somebody said in another thread, if not careful, it is possible to tweak your hands and end your ability to enjoy playing guitar.

Andrés Segovia often stated that if playing guitar hurts, you just have improper technique. And i find that to be true.

The man was still giving concerts at 97 years old.
"It wasn't the world being round that agitated people, but that the world wasn't flat. [ ... ]
The truth will seem utterly preposterous, and its speaker, a raving lunatic."
