  • Newbie Help!

Hey there everybody. I have a question for you seasoned shredders out there. Anybody have any links to good warm-up and practice excercise tab? I am in need of some good starter excercises. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

To practice alternate picking, try Technical Difficulties by Racer X.

Learn "Exciter" by JP (Judas Priest).

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Chromatics are always a good way to warm up.

          1-2-3-4

Through all six strings. Once you feel fluid alternate picking them, do some legato and slam some of that. Do it in reverse too. Play for accuracy and the speed will come with time.

And try the variations of 1-2-3-4 too.

            1-4-2-4
            4-1-2-4
            4-1-3-4

Moving these up and down the positions and over the strings is pretty hard to do above 150-160 when playing 16ths.
