  • books to use

so i have been playing guitar for 4 years now and have absolutely no musical knowledge of the guitar, the only instrument i know how to compose songs musically is the saxophone which i played for around 6 years. I can write songs on guitar, however everything is written on just how gd things sound and experimenting for days to see which riffs will fit together without sounding stupidly out of key and i know basic patterns on the fretboard. This is really time consuming and i would love to be able to write songs in a matter of hours than days or even weeks. So basically can anyone suggest any books that i could use to improve my songwriting skills and solo's. thanks

You could pick up some books but there is so much of the theory and help on the net that I would look around there first. All my musical knowledge is web based or from magazines.
A quick google search will point you in the right direction

I have the same problem...That and I really need to learn the notes of the fretboard. I know them if I think about them, but I learned to play by tabs so instead of seeing notes I see them as numbers.
I would so snatch that up it if were 24 frets

I'm out like Axl Rose just before a GNR concert
