        I usually jam along with
        Maiden - Loads of songs
Thin Lizzy - Loads of songs
Childen of Bodom - Silent Night
        Megadeth - She wolf, SoD
        Vinnie Moore- Lifeforce

I'll also put on backing tracks of songs and solo over them - FTLOG is real fun as is any fast bluesy stuff like Testify(SRV)

once i got comfortable and could say i can play a guitar, I stopped playing other people's tunes and worked hard on original material. sure ,warming up you bang out a few great song riffs , but i knew early on if you wanted to truly hit paydirt ,you had to have a sound , and most importantly a good or great singer. that was a commodity item back in the 80's. now more than ever, i bet everyone on this board can do cookie monster vocals without one singing lesson.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

This is why I've stopped learning Malmsteen and started learning how to sing. Some of my favorite songs to play or sing:

Dio - Holy Diver, Don't Talk To Strangers, Rainbow in the Dark, Heaven and Hell
                      Damn Yankees - High Enough
Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever
Styx - Blue Collar Man, Renegade
Bon Jovi - You Give Love a Bad Name, Bed of Roses
Whitesnake - Crying in the Rain, In The Still of the Night

Pretty much any cool/cheesy 70's/80's rock

Me too (the latter) - never ceases to amaze me how many people know Coast to Coast and how well it goes down live, plus it gives the poor vocalist (sob) a break. Always try to play it on my Flying V, if I haven't broken a string on it earlier in the set.

Another song I love to play is Cold Sweat by Thin Lizzy.

..and Wasted Years by Maiden, we might even get it in the set one day when the vocalist can be arsed to learn the words
