Old Cannibal Corpse in general. Songs from Butchered at Birth and Tomb of the Mutilated especially. Suffocation is great too.

and After midnight by Eric Clapton.

I've been working on Coroner's "Son Of Lilith"

my first "cover" song that I'm putting my heart into..
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
                Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.

WoW... I would give my right nut to be able to play anything by Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, and Priest... and would give my left nut to be able to play anything by SRV... Even though I've been playing for 20 years.. I totally suck... I don't know what it is. I say I play my guitar at least 2 - 3 hours most nights. My timing suck even though I practice with a drum machine/metronome. I pretty sure I'm tone deaf also.. because I can't play a song just by listening to it.

Don't get me wrong...go back to the roots. That was my prob for a long time.
Find whatever Muddy Waters, Son House, T-Bone Walker, Robert Johnson, and listen, and learn. I know it sounds stupid, but you really have to go the crossraods sometimes to get it. These guys showed that it's ONE note, not a zillion, that speaks the whole song. You can build from there. In a year, you'll be right on time.

Sounds stupid, but it works. I studied classical to the point of sight reading, went to teachers, and didn't get it until I dug down to where the others learned it.

Always remember...it's about the song, not the instrument.

Feel free to PM me. I have stories to tell about this.
