  • 4 strings palm muting with floyd rose

I'm doing an exercist with strings 6-3, and I have to palm mute everything. Man, it's difficult for me because I'm always afraid I'm putting too much pressure on the floyd. How lightly should my hand rest over the strings when palm muting over the floyd.

This is pretty much impossible to explain over the net. Only your ears can guide you. In that sense (major pun) you've already provided your own answer.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

If you rest your right hand forward slightly (like right over the bridge posts), you can apply a bit more pressure without your intonation going out of whack.

If I were to fuck it up a bit, would I have set it all up again?

If I understand the question, the answer is no. You should be able to dive bomb the bridge with the bar or with your hand all you want without throwing a setup out.

I meant if I put too much pressure on the bridge.

I have trouble positioning my hand to palm mute those four strings at the same time.

The only way you are going to screw it up for real is if you whip a screwdriver out or "Townshend" it against the floor.

So basically it will only affect the notes I'm playing at the time I'm putting the pressure on it then? Just the way people talk to me about it, it's like their jaws drop when I say on my old fender I would rest my hand on the bridge, like that would destroy a floyd rose lol.

Ok I was under the impression that like it would go all out of whack, so now I can experiment a bit with my palm muting. Thanks. It's a bitch sometimes... at least for a newb like me.

One of the reasons I prefer a Kahler. You can rest your hand on the bridge, like you do with your Fender, and not have it go sharp.

I anchor my hand to my floyds and I don't go sharp.
you need to find the 'sweet spot" on the bridge and of course use a light tough. You can also add an additional spring to tighten thinngs up or block the bridge so it only dives down.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?
