  • Damn! And i consider myself a Tapping monster...?

Getting into "Hot for Teacher"..(yeah i like to wait 23 years before attempting VH stuff!) And that 3rd fret to 7th fret arrpeggio is tearing
up my left hand knuckles! Good "spread" workout..but its tearing up these
53 yr old tendons! The more i work on VH stuff, the more i bow down
to the master! He must have some kind of strong grip! I wish i had
    Paul Gilberts piano fingers!

I think that all great shredders have freaky long fingers.
They are obviously planted here by aliens.

Very uncomfortable at first indeed, I can still only play it half assed.

Try changing positions (classical). and make sure your hand is in the most economic position on the neck (thumbwise). That'll make it a little easier, then it's time to get to stretching.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Do yourself a favor and do not look into any of the shredder tapping done in the late 80's, you will want to jump out a window.

Bratta! Obvious EVH 'rip off', but he took it so much further than Ed ever did, imho.

I nearly lept off my roof when I was trying to comprehend the 'Wait' solo.

Yeah, the Hot for Teacher intro is kind of a bitch. If he was just tapping 12-3-7, or 12-7-3, it would be no problem (even with my short fingers -lol). The thing that gets me is pulling off to the open string, 12-7-3-0-3-7, without getting unwanted noise from other strings.

I can actually play the first 4 parts at speed, but after ive done it say
the 6th or 7th time, my left hand wants to explode! Thanks, im glad im
not the only one having some trouble. Why didnt eddie do this on the
                15th fret?

Hey, I used to cover that tune in my old band. For what it's worth, when I played the tapping intro, I put the pick in my mouth a la Eddie , and I used my thumb and middle fingers to mute the adjacent strings while I tapped with my index finger. I also had to hold the neck up high and get my wrist in a classical sort of position to do it comfortably.

                  I don't know...maybe that will help!

Right! Thats the bitch...doing it the right way...and then after 4 hours,
that sequence has altered my normal tapping! Screws me up big time.
