Jack's right-he used the pickups that came in his guitar, and had them rewound. The Fender SRV Signature Model is a guitar that Stevie approved of before his death. He never played one, they just made it in homage to him. Texas Specials were probably made to replicate his sound a bit, but personally I don't think that pickups played too much of a role in his tone.
Pride and Joy was the first SRV song I learned. Its not too difficult, fun to play, and its cool to noodle blues riffs over. I definately recommend getting SRV's greatest hits volume 1, then get #2.
Same here. Pride and Joy. I have a book of tabbed songs. There are like 30 songs or somethin like that. Great tool for learning string skipping and fun blues licks. It was like 20 bucks. GO GET ONE NOW!
