I need to get acclimated to this crazy onstage technique of throwing shapes. Any advice??

Re: Throwing Shapes
throwing shapes is just what it says,,lol,,
most guitarists see SHAPES as they play
ok...now play a major sounding shape/line on two strings
try the root/2/maj3rd/4th and 5th
now play that in its root postion, now move that postition say a min 3rd up,and then again another min3rd position change..it goes out of key BUT it sounds fine as your ears have been introduced to the original (in tune)position so when it goes out it creates the tense harmony.then resovle it near the ned of the solo..or look an idiot
same with arps/scales......throwing shapes around to me(and others )is just playing
or are you refering to slinging guitar over your neck and back????lol easy stuff both ways(watch out for the singer,i nearly took an old singers eye out with a backwards guitar throw one time!!he wasnt happy)locking strap nuts are needed

Re: Throwing Shapes
From the last paragraph of this page:
""throwing shapes" is slang for showing off, but also for striking a pose, voguing, stylin', etc. It's also said of guitar players, from what I can gather, when they strut and fret onstage. It's kind of a self-referential writerly title for what I was doing here, which is to say, just playing and fncking around."Hail yesterday
