Re: Throwing Shapes

its all about KK Downing and Glen Tipton's stage moves. they (along with Kiss) started it all. i know i like to be entertained when i pay to see a show. so i like to give that felling back to the audience.

Sometimes while playing, i'll have a space where i have no frethand movement, so out of boredom i run my hand to the heal and back up to playing position really fast without fretting, and catch the next note in the song. I know its nothing special *everyone heree probably does it out of habit* but would that be an example?

Throwing good shapes is one of the most important skills a guitarist can learn! It's no use being a virtuoso shredder, if all you're gonna do is stand around like some kind of dummy! Compare Steve Vai and Allan Holdsworth - both Godly players, one throws big shapes, the other doesn't - which one would you rather be?
          Chicks dig shapes!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Raleigh's got the great metal scene, chapel hill is just a bunch of collage alternative crap.

and yes we have played the cats cradle before. it is a great club. we just prefer to play in raleigh cause thats where the metal's at.

That "college alternative crap" is what I'm in a band playing right now!

                        Re: Throwing Shapes

I thought that throwing shapes was just taking basic scales or modes and improvising over them using a specific shape or pattern to build guitar solos.
