hitting volume knob during sweep picking?

..still pretty new and working on sweep picking.. however, more often than not, i run into the volume knob, and sounds goes bye bye... any solutions?

Don't sweep straight down. When doing so you are running into your volume control. Sweep from the bass side at a slight angle towards the neck and visa-versa. My ascending sweep starts right above the inner coil on my bridge pickup and it ends in the middle of the neck and bridge pickups. It it is your 3rd and 4th fingers that are hitting the volume knob you will have to learn to keep them lifted. George Lynch instructional videos can help with this technique.
